Arriving at Kegla for a later lunch, and accommodation for the night.

That night the group will enjoy a fresh local meal, including vegetables and local trout (other options are also available).

Day 3: 3rd July Kegla - Base Camp

The group will wake around 7am and after breakfast set out for Mt Wilhelm Base Camp. The trek to camp will take around 3 hours and is not a hard trek, and the group will walk at a comfortable pace.

At Base Camp lunch will be shared before taking a walk to the lake to enjoy the beauty that surrounds. Trekkers will have a relaxing afternoon, however trekkers need to take a walk up to the top lake (Puinde)  before returning back to lake Aunde and the guesthouse. Early evening the group will share a nice early tea that warms the body. Your accommodation is in the guesthouse where mattresses are available. The night can get cold so warm drinks are shared, and trekkers hop into bed early to get some rest before rising again at 1:15am (make sure to have warm clothes as the night get cool).

Day 4: 4th July - Base Camp - Mt Wilhelm - Kegla

After waking at 1:15am, a nice warm breakfast is served, and the trekkers will leave their packs at Base Camp and start trekking towards the summit at 2am with a daypack. Trekkers need to have a good quality head torch with spare batteries just in case. The group will move at an easy pace realising that the darkness brings additional risk. Guides are spread between the group, at a ratio of 1 guide per 2 trekkers, to make sure that each person is Ok and safe.

Due to the altitude is can get extremely cold and trekkers must have adequate cold and wet weather clothing including rain coat/poncho gloves & beanie. For this reason also there is a number of stops along the way, to reduce the chance of altitude sickness.

The group will arrive at the summit before sunrise to have the best possibility of enjoying the 360 degree view. The area at the peak is fairly small and trekkers make the most of getting some pictures of their achievement. A call will be made back to our Investa Treks office in Australia, and loved ones will be informed of the success of the trekkers.
Once the sun rises the weather will set in and the vision will be hindered as the mist rises.

After enjoying the peak, the group will slowly descend back to Base Camp for lunch, then continue back to the Kegla guesthouse for the night, where you will enjoy a warm wash and another beautiful meal.

Day 5: 5th July Kegla - Tombil

After enjoying a great rest, the group after breatfast will board the transport and head back towards Kundiawa, then onto Tombil, where the group will have the opportunity to share with the partcipants of the building project.

After enjoying this achievement, there is much celebration from the locals and the Investa Trekkers on the project at the village. On this day we suggest trekkers take a walk into the village to see all that the village has to offer. You will visit the school and hospital (if desired) and there is the opportunity to give gifts to the students and/or the patients. A game of football can also be shared with the youth. In the evening a celebration meal is enjoyed with a traditional sing sing and dance.

Trekkers may also wish to get involved in the project as we work alongside the locals.
